artful 21 is… a space for expression of talents, an outlet for creativity, and a place where art meets commerce, providing support for artists who happen to have down syndrome, and the small businesses they are building. in 2016 the down syndrome association of northeast ohio had an opportunity to highlight the artistic talents of people with down syndrome throughout northeast ohio with the creation of artful 21, a unique shop filled with treasures created by individuals with down syndrome. the works of over 20 artisans are featured, giving them an outlet for expression of their talents and a revenue source as purchases at the store support these artisans and their small business ventures. In the 8 years of operation the store has generated sales of over $95,000 for these artists.
